Women’s Basketball Announces The Signing Of L’erin Scott
Huntington, W.Va.—Royce Chadwick and his staff have announced that L’erin Scott, a 5’6 point guard from Georgetown, Kentucky, has signed a National Letter of Intent with Marshall University. Scott will be eligible for the 2003-04 season.
“L’erin is a total basketball player,” said Marshall head coach Royce Chadwick. “She the epitome of what you draw up for a point guard. She’s a great quarterback, with outstanding leadership abilities, to go along with a good three-point shot. She is a tremendous asset to our total program.”
Scott has spent the past two seasons at St. Catherine College in St. Catherine, Kentucky, where she has posted some impressive numbers. This season, she was ranked in four categories in her conference (TJCCAA) and nationally in one. She was second in the conference in assists at 6.1 per game, third in three-point percentage (41%), sixth in free throw percentage (78%) and fourth in steals (2.8 per game). Her 6.1 assists per game is the eight best total in NJCAA Division I.
In her freshman season, she averaged 7.1 assists per contest, which put her first in the TJCCAA and fifth in the country.
In two seasons, Scott led her team to a 44-17 overall record.
