HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Thundering Herd women's basketball coach Royce Chadwick announced his second signing of the week, inking 5-5 point guard Dorina Barrett to a National Letter of Intent to play at Marshall starting next season.
Barrett is a native of Detroit, Mich. where she attended Pershing High School. Herd center Tynikki Crook, who will be a senior next season, also attended Pershing.
"Dorina is a natural basketball player. She adds a confidence to a team that you just can't teach," Chadwick said. "Every facet of her game is not just good but spectacularly good. She makes everyone on the floor better. Dorina has star potential."
Barrett was named an All-City Player from 2008 through 2010 while garnering All-State honors as a senior. As a sophomore in 2008, she led the Doughgirls to the City Championship game for the first time.
As a senior, Barrett averaged 16 points, 12 assists, 5 steals and 5 rebounds while leading her squad to the Class A state semifinals.
