UMBC transfer Ashley Lambert

May 13, 2013

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall women’s basketball program signed two new additions, Enjonae Chambers and Ashley Lambert, this past week, bringing next season’s newcomer total to 10.

CHAMBERS, a 5-7 guard, played high school basketball at Conway High West in Conway, Ark. She scored 1,346 points for the Lady Cats in three years, was all-conference three years and an all-state tournament selection two years.

“We are excited to have Enjonae added to our roster,” head coach Matt Daniel said of Chambers. “She is known as a sharp shooter and we can definitely add her to our versatile roster.  She initially committed to NCAA tournament team Tulsa, but we are glad to have her be a part of our basketball family.”

This past season, Chambers earned 24 points, seven rebounds, three steals, three blocks, and two assists per game.

LAMBERT is a 5-11 transfer from the University of Maryland-Baltimore (UMBC) who plays at the guard and forward position. She played two years with the Retrievers, appearing in 55 games and earning 11 starts. She averaged 16 minutes per game, scoring 208 career points and totaling 116 rebounds.

“Ashley's approach has been professional through the entire process,” Daniel said of Lambert. “Even though she will have to sit out for her transfer year, her approach can have a huge impact to our young team. On the floor, she is a scorer that has a lot of mid-range in her game. I'm excited to have her be a part of our family.”

During her high school career, Lambert was named 2011 Commonwealth District MVP and the Player of the Year by the Free Lance-Star after averaging 18.1 points per game as a senior. She was also selected to the All-Commonwealth District, All-Area and All-Region first teams her senior year. Lambert’s skills on the court produced a McDonald’s All-America nominee and earned her a spot on the U.S. Junior Nationals during the summer of 2010.

Chambers and Lambert will be joining Kiana Evans (5-5 guard/Princeton, W.Va.), McKenzie Akers (6-1 guard/Huntington, W.Va.), Chelsy Romero (6-3 forward/Hampton, Va.), Maya Singleton (6-1 forward/Marlboro, Md.), Jonelle Britt (6-2 forward/Marlboro, Md.), Leah Scott (5-11 guard/Iowa Western Community College), Aja Sorrells (5-9 guard/Hutchinson Community College), and Andrea Johnson (5-5 point guard/Northeast Community College) as the 2013-14 newcomers.
