HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University women's basketball program will hold its third annual Locker Room Club Golf Scramble on Thursday, Aug. 10, at Esquire Country Club. Over 90 prizes highlight the event, which begins with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Ferris, Baker & Watts Financial Consultants serve as the scramble's signature sponsor. Premium hole-in-one prizes include a Mercedes ML-350, courtesy of Giant Auto Group of Ashland, Ky., and a Rolex watch, courtesy of Carlisle and Co. Other prizes include 10 first-class golf packages along with season tickets for Marshall football and men's and women's basketball.
The field for the LRC Golf Scramble is full for the first time in event history. Marshall players will be on hand, as well as various athletic department officials. A lunch, provided by Kroger's of Barboursville, will kickoff the event at 12 noon. An awards ceremony and potluck dinner, provided by Outback Steakhouse, will follow at the conclusion of the tournament.
"Wayne Miller (of Ferris, Baker & Watts Financial Consultants) has stepped up to make this golf tournament the best we've ever had," head coach Royce Chadwick said. "We're looking forward to raising money for our players to continue summer school.
"It's going to be a great event."
The Locker Room Club is the booster club for women's basketball and has supported the program in various ways. As a fund raising organization, the LRC has provided funding for summer school tuition, facility and equipment upgrades and team travel expenses.
