HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall will play a non-conference slate that includes 2011 Patriot League champions Navy, Ohio Valley Conference runner-ups Tennessee Tech and NCAA Tournament participant West Virginia as the full women's basketball schedule was released Monday.

First year head coach Matt Daniel will face teams in 10 different conferences throughout the beginning of the 2012-13 schedule. Included in the mix will be first-time opponents Marquette and Presbyterian College.

The schedule will preserve long standing rivalries including Ohio (15 years) at home and West Virginia (40 years) in the annual Capital Classic in Charleston.

The season begins Nov. 9, as Marshall plays host to 2011-12 Big South semifinalist Radford in the Cam Henderson Center. The Herd then goes on the road for the first time against a team Marshall hasn't played since 1980, Indiana State. Marshall returns home to face Ball State on Nov. 17 before playing six-straight road games.

The Herd will take on Southern and Marquette in a tournament hosted by Texas A&M from Nov. 23-25 and follow with a tournament at Eastern Kentucky that includes competition from Jackson State and Presbyterian College on the first day of December.

The month of December will include some of Marshall's toughest non-conference foes including the Capital Classic versus West Virginia on Dec. 4. The Herd will then return to Huntington for its first home game in a month against Ohio on Dec. 15 and then play two other home games against Furman and Women's Basketball Invitational participant Tennessee Tech on Dec. 22.

Marshall will close out the non-conference schedule with 2011-12 Patriot League champions, Navy on Dec. 30.

After an 11-day break, the Herd will start Conference USA play on Jan. 10 with a road trip to Southern Miss. Marshall will then host 2011-12 NIT contenders Tulane three days later. Following a trip to Tulsa on Jan. 17, the Herd will play at home against Houston and UAB before traveling to East Carolina on Jan. 31.

February will open up with 2010-11 NIT contenders Memphis at home on the 3rd. After a weekend road trip that includes UCF and SMU, Marshall will host reigning C-USA champions UTEP on Feb. 14. Marshall will then play UAB for the second time on Feb. 17 and travel to Rice for a game on the 24th. Following a home game against Southern Miss on Feb. 28, Marshall will play its final home game against UCF on March 3.

The Herd will close the season with an away contest against Memphis, before preparing for the Conference USA Championships, held March 13-16 in Tulsa, Okla.
