HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – First year head coach Matt Daniel and the women’s basketball program got an early start with an 8 a.m. practice on Thursday to open up the preseason practice schedule.

“I wanted to get a gauge to where we were at from the jump,” commented Daniel on the first practice of the season. “We went up and down the court and tried to teach them about the pace we want to play at. I think it’s quite the adjustment. This year will be a great learning experience, for them and for our staff. We are going to try and take it a day at a time and get better every day.”

The Marshall women’s basketball team returns 10 players and adds three newcomers including Navy transfer Sara Sang and freshmen Jennifer Ramirez and Norrisha Victrum.

“Their demeanor was pretty good for the most part,” continued Daniel. “We were able to go for a couple of hours and maintain a pace up and down – but it is day one and everybody is eager.”

“The main two goals I want out of them every day is positive attitude and relentless effort. The rest will take care of itself. I thought for the most part we did that in day one.”

The Herd will open up the season against Radford in the Cam Henderson Center on November 9 at noon. Be sure to check out HerdZone.com for more information.
