HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women’s basketball is preparing for the 2015-16 season with an exhibition game against Kentucky Christian.

The Herd improved to 17-15 this past season and has lost a few key members from the squad that reached the quarterfinals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. Chukwuka Ezeigbo, Aja Sorrells and A.J. Johnson have graduated and in their place are an exciting group of youngsters.

Marshall nabbed the 52nd recruiting class in the country. Along with all of the fresh faces, the Herd returns C-USA Preseason All-Conference selection Leah Scott (Detroit, Mich.) along with Norrisha Victrum (Columbia, S.C.) and Chelsey Romero (Hampton, Va.).

Redshirt senior Leah Scott scored 494 points this past season, a number that ranks eighth in a season in Marshall history. She is also only 167 points away from becoming the 18th player in Marshall women’s basketball history with 1,000 career points.

Marshall’s 52nd-ranked recruiting class brings seven freshmen to the team to join forward Talequia Hamilton (Huntington, W.Va.) and guard Taylor Porter (Fort Gay, W.Va.), transfers who sat out this past season. The freshmen for the Herd with uniform numbers are:

2 – Guard Logan Fraley from Ashland, Ky.

3 – Guard/Forward Ama Arkorful from Vicksburg, Miss.

4 – Guard/Forward Khadaijia Brooks from Bristol, Conn.

                14 – Guard/Forward Shayna Gore from Logan, W.Va.

15 – Guard Tana Driver from Irving, Texas

                33 – Guard/Forward Madison Morris from Huntington, W.Va.

34 – Center Hope Lester from Hanover, W.Va.
