Women's Basketball Inks Sikeetha Shepard

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.--Marshall University Head Coach Royce Chadwick has announced the signing of Sikeetha Shepard, a 5?8 guard from Lutheran North High School in Houston, Texas, to a National Letter of Intent. Shepard, who graduated in the spring of 2001, will arrive on campus after the fall semester, and may be eligible to compete in the spring of 2002.

Shepard comes to Marshall from Houston, Texas, where she was ranked the 9th best senior in the state of Texas, while also being voted first team all-state and to the state?s all-tournament team while at Lutheran North High School. As a junior at Evan E. Worthing Senior High, she was a first team all-region and second team all-state selection. She averaged 25 points, four assists, and three rebounds during her high school career.

?Sikeetha is a marque player that will have an instant impact on our program,? said Coach Chadwick. ?She is a legitimate offensive minded player that will play either the point guard or two-guard position for us. She has a chance to be a great player.?

Marshall expects to sign more prospects in the days to come.
