IRVING, Texas - Marshall sophomore Tynikki Crook has been named the C-USA Player of the Week for her performance in the Thundering Herd's three contests over the last week of play.

Crook averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in three games, including a career-high 21 points and season-best 13 boards against North Texas. She also tied her career mark with five blocks against the Mean Green.

Her solid play continued with 14 points in Friday's Fifth Third Classic game against Tennessee State. In the championship game against ULM, Crook scored 20 points and grabbed eight boards on her way to All-Tournament honors.

The sophomore shot a blazing .679 (19-of-28) for the week while connecting on 17 free throws.

As of Monday, Crook is second in shooting in C-USA, hitting 61.5% of her shots thus far. Her season scoring average of 17.8 PPG is fourth best in the league. She also finds herself in the top 15 in rebounding with 7.3 per game.

This is the first player of the week award for women's basketball this season and the first for Crook. The team garnered two honors last season, with guards Casey Baker and Kizzy Hart taking the honor in December.

Crook and the Thundering Herd will be back in action on Tuesday evening, playing host to Morehead State at 7 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center.
