Marshall Set to Face Longwood|

HUNTINGTON, W.VA. - After starting the season with the best record since 2006, the Marshall women's basketball team looks to continue their success against the Longwood Lancers this Thursday at 12:00 p.m. ET.
The game will be the third ever meeting between the two programs, while Marshall holds a 3-0 record in the all-time series. The two teams most recently met last year in Farmville, Va. and Marshall brought back a 62-54 win.
Marshall enters tomorrow's contest 6-2 after most recently knocking off Cincinnati in a comeback win at home. Despite being down 11 points in the first half, the Thundering Herd used a 13 point effort from Jasmine Shaw and a 12 point performance by Lateidra Elliott to overcome the deficit and beat the Bearcats 55-47. With the win, the Herd extended their win streak to five in a row.
The Herd is led in total points by guards Shynisha Johnson and Jasmine Shaw with 65 points each. Johnson claims the most made three-pointers on the team with 14 and combines for a 48.3 percent average from beyond the arc, while Shaw follows closely with a 40.0 percent average in three-pointers.
On the glass, Erica Woods totals 58 rebounds, while grabbing 40 defensive boards. Freshman Victoria Wells is the team-leader in steals with 23 and point guards Alaya Mitchell and Dornia Barrett have the most assists on the team with 16. Down low, Leandra King and Alyse Poindexter record the most blocks with 10 each.
Longwood comes to Huntington, W.Va. with a 2-6 record, with their two wins coming against Cornell and Radford. The Lancers are led by senior forward Brittanni Billups, who marks 10.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Senior guard Mina Javonovic follows with 9.1 points per game, while Chelsea Coward and Erin Neal contribute 8.9 and 8.1 points per game, respectively.
