Herd Women’s Golf Completes Day Three of Edwin Watts
The women’s golf team finished in 20th place
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – three days of three days of golf, the Marshall Thundering Herd women’s golf team completed the Edwin Watts Classic with a final score of 47-over-par and a final score of 911 for a spot in 20th place.
“That was not the way we wanted to start our spring season, but we know what we need to work on before our next event,” head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. “We know we are better than this, so results must be better by next week. Everything we do now prepares us for the Conference USA Tournament in April. We will be ready.”
Sophomore Shelby Brauckmuller and freshman Kerri Parks were the top finishers for the Herd with scores of 13-over 229 for a tie for 79th place. Both Brauckmuller and Parks had two birdies in the final round. Finishing right behind the duo was junior Ylva Forslund, who finished in a tie for 87th place after posting a score of 14-over 230.
Individually, there was a three-way tie for the championship after Murray State’s Lucila Puente Rodriguez, Jacksonville State’s Valentina Giraldo and UNC Wilmington each finished with 5-under 211. The host school, College of Charleston, won the team championship with a seven-stroke lead of Murray State. The Cougars finished with a final score of 872 and 8-over-par.
