KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.-Marshall's Korakot Simsiriwong shot a 1-over 73 on the Oak Point course to lead the Herd Sunday on the first day competition at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The sophomore from Narathiwat, Thailand birdied two of the front nine's three par-5 and rebounded from three bogeys on the back nine to close with five straight pars to close in strong fashion. She is currently tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard.
Rachel Thompson (T-67th) and Caitlyn Morrone (T-130th) each birdied the par-4 third hole en route to a 79 and 85, respectively, while Maria Battaglia (T-162nd, 19-over 91) and Kristyn Morrone (172nd, 25-over 97) rounded out the squad.
In the team competition, the Herd is currently 26th after a 40-over round of 328.
Day 2 will begin Monday at 10 a.m.
