DALLAS, Texas – After day one of the SMU / Dallas Athletic Club Invitational, Marshall women’s golf sits in 15th place after shooting a 342.

Rachel Thompson leads the Thundering Herd, shooting an 81 (+9) in round one to tie for 49th individually. She tallied two birdies in the front nine. Korakot Simsiriwong followed with an 83 (+11) on the first day to tie for 60th individually, while Maria Battaglia tallied an 86 (+14).

Kristyn and Caitlyn Morrone rank 78th and 79th individually. Kristyn shot a 92 on day one, while Caitlyn recorded two extra sots, recording a 94.

Despite seven of the top-50 ranked golf teams in the NCAA competing in the tournament, unranked Kansas State leads the field after round one with a 294. Oklahoma’s Chirapat Jao-Javanil is the individual leader after shooting a 69 (-3). She was one of four golfers in the 80-person field to shoot below par.

Tomorrow’s action will start at 9 a.m. on the Dallas Athletic Club golf course. Round two will be a 6,301-yard, 71-par course, while round three will be extended to a 6,359-yard course.
