DALLAS, Texas – Marshall women’s golf finished the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational in 15th place after scoring a combined tally of 351 in round three to finish the tournament with a 1027.
Korakot Simisiriwong saved her best golf for the final day, scoring the best round of any Marshall player on the third day with a 77. She tied for 35th individually after shooting a 238 in the three-round event.
Rachel Thompson and Maria Battaglia each tallied a 91 in the final round of the tournament. Thompson ended up placing tied for 65th individually after totaling a 252, while Battaglia placed tied for 74th with a score of 264.
Kristyn Morrone scored a 93 in the final round and placed 76th, shooting a 274 for the tournament. Twin sister Caitlyn Morrone placed 78th after shooting a 280 for the invitational with a 92 in round three.
Oklahoma State won the tournament title after shooting an 896. The Cowgirls were led with a resounding performance by Julie Yang, who was the only golfer of the 78-player field to score under par. She shot a 72 on day three to finish with a 210 (-6), seven strokes better than the second place finisher.
The SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational was the final regular season tournament on the women’s golf schedule. The Herd will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. to next compete in the Conference USA Championships on April 21.
