Women's Golf Completes 2016-17 Season
The women's golf team finished at ninth with a score of 52-over 916
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Marshall women’s golf team completed its 2016-17 season after it finished the final round of the Conference USA Women’s Championship. The Herd earned a ninth place finish with a score of 52-over-par 916.
The season finale also marked the completion of head coach Brooke Burkhammer’s first year of leading the Herd.
The final round of the tournament was the Herd’s best during this year’s C-USA Championship, as it finished the round with a 303. On the individual side, freshman Shelby Braukmuller and sophomore Ylva Forslund posted the best individual rounds for the Herd in the final round, as both had a 2-over 74. Brauckmuller’s final round also caused her to jump up five spots for a tie at 28th.
Junior Leigha Holt finished in a tie for 20th, the highest individual for the Herd.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Old Dominion came back from yesterday’s four-stroke deficit against Middle Tennessee to win the C-USA Championship. The Monarchs defeated the reigning champions by eight strokes and a score of 12-over 876. Individually, Jenna Burris of Middle Tennessee won the championship, as she defeated Southern Miss’ Henriette Syr and Old Dominions Maggie Simmermacher by six strokes and with a final score of 209.

“It was definitely not the finish we wanted at Conference, but what a year it’s been this crew. It flew by and we had fun getting to represent the Herd every time. Now we have to focus on final exams and getting better this summer.”
