GULF SHORES, Ala. - Marshall women's golf finished the first round of the Conference USA Championships at the The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club with a combined score of 335 to place 11th.

Korakot Simsiriwong shot a 78 (+6) in the first round and is tied for 32nd individually. The sophomore had three birdies on the opening day.

Rachel Thompson shot an 80 (+8) in the opening round and is tied for 40th individually. Caitlyn Morrone finished the day with an 87 (+15) to tie for 51st.

Maria Battaglia followed with a 90 (+18) to place 54th and Kristyn Morrone scored a 93 (+21) in the opening round, placing 55th.

Tulane leads the field, scoring a 291 (+3) on day one. East Carolina boasts the two best golfers of the first round as Nico Engstroem Skaug and Gustafsson Spang each scored a 70 (-2) to be two of three golfers to score under par.

Marshall will be paired up with UAB for round two tees off at 9:35 a.m. ET tomorrow on hole No. 10.
