Women's Golf Finishes 12th at the Cardinal Cup|

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Marshall women's golf team maintained its 12th-place position at the conclusion of the Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Ky., Tuesday.
The Cardinal Club course won the battle with Thundering Herd, which ended the final day with its highest score of the three rounds. Marshall's 39-over-par 327 on the day totaled the team's score to a 108-over 972 final score. Host Louisville started and ended in first with a 5-under 859, while Kansas trailed in second with a final 17-over 881.
"This team is better than the scores from this tournament," coach Meredith Knight Rowsey said. "We can play better, and we will. We are going to go home and prepare for our next tournament."
Senior Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio) had the best final round of the squad with a 4-over 76 to give her a 232 finish for the best score on the team and tie for a 36th place finish overall.
The Herd will have two weeks to recuperate and prepare for its third tournament of the fall season. Marshall will compete in The Preview for the first time, which will take place in Fisher, Ind. over the span of two days (Oct. 7-8).
At the conclusion of the Cardinal Cup the Herd stood:
