Women's Golf Wraps up Play at McNamara Invitational
Marshall was 15th after the two-day event

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Marshall’s women’s golf team wrapped up play Tuesday at the Dale McNamara Invitational in 15th with a three-round score of 959.
The two day, 54-hole tournament was played at the par-72 Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow, Okla. It was hosted by fellow Conference USA member Tulsa.
The Thundering Herd, after a rocky first round, was able recover and post productive rounds. The top MU golfer throughout the tournament was Samantha DiDomenico with an overall 54-hole score of 230 (+14). She finished in a tie for 41st with rounds of 78-76-76.
Rachel Thompson had the best round of the five Marshall golfers. After a shaky first round, Thompson recovered for scores of 76 in the second round and 75 in the third and final round, the best round of the Herd golfers. Thompson’s final score was 236 (+20).
Rounding out the action for the Herd were golfers Korakot Simsiriwong, Caitlyn Morrone and Kristyn Morrone. Simsiriwong shot 78 in the final two rounds to conclude the event with a 245 (+29). Caitlyn ended play at 248 (+32), while her sister Kristyn rounded the Herd effort with a 266 (+50).
Arizona State, a NCAA Tournament participant last season, was the team champions for the McNamara Invitational with a score of 866 (+2). They edged fellow NCAA Tournament team Florida by three strokes.
Flordia’s Isabelle Lendi claimed the individual title with a 210 (-6). Dani Ordonez of Arizona State was second with a 213 (-3).
Marshall is back out on the course later this week as they partake in the Cardinal Classic in Yorktown, Ind. at The Players Club. The event runs from Sept. 21-23.
