Herd Finishes 13th in The Preview
Marshall will have almost two weeks before its final tournament of the fall season

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's golf team fell two spots in the standings in the final round of The Preview, Tuesday in Fishers, Ind. The Thundering Herd ended the event in 13th place after the final 18 holes of play with an 87-over-par 633 final tally.
"We struggled today, but we are looking to improve with almost two weeks of practice before our final fall tournament," coach Meredith Knight Rowsey said.
Senior Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio) improved her approach entering the final round on the 6,127-yard course. Her second round score improved by three strokes with a 5-over 77 score that totaled her two-round score to 157 at the Hawthorns Golf & Country Club. She climbed the rankings to finish in a tie for 13th after finishing Round 1 in a tie for 20th.
Thompson had a consistent 1-over par 5 scoring - the third-best of the tournament.
Toledo finished first in The Preview after shooting a 35-over 611 combined two-round score. Host school Ball State shot a 42-over 618 to finish in second place.
The Herd will return to action in its final outing of the fall season Oct. 21-22 in the Dayton Fall Invitational in Kettering, Ohio.
