Herd Women's Golf in Third after Round One at Palmetto

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Marshall women's golf team sits in third place after the first round at the Palmetto Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon. Shelby Brauckmuller and Stormy Randazzo are both in the top 10.
Brauckmuller leads the Herd after shooting an even par 72, and is tied for fifth place. Randazzo finished just one shot behind Brauckmuller with a 1-over 73, and is in a tie for seventh. Ylva Forslund and Kerri Parks are both in a tie for 23rd. The Thundering Herd collected a total of 15 birdies in round one.
Ole Miss leads the team competition after shooting a 2-over 290. The Rebels lead Old Dominion by 5-strokes. Ole Miss also claims the top two individual players as Diane Lim leads the field with a 4-under 68, and Julia Johnson is in second with a 2-under 70.

"This course has the potential to be tough, but we started out strong and kept things together throughout the day. I am so proud of these girls. They never give up. It is all about having grit and staying positive. We have two more days to go though, so we need to come out tomorrow and Tuesday with the same game plan."

Round two is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start. Rain is forecasted to move through overnight and well into tomorrow with a chance of thunderstorms beginning around 9 a.m.
