GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – Marshall’s women’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2012-13 campaign with the FedEx Memphis Women’s Intercollegiate in Germantown, Tenn.
The two-day event went from Monday to Tuesday at the Ridgeway Country Club, a par-71, 6,150-yard course.
The Thundering Herd concluded the event in 12th place after a team score of 985 during 54 holes of play. Marshall’s best finisher was Rachel Thompson, who carded a 213 during the three rounds. She finished tied for 36th.
Samantha DiDomenico finished second for the Herd and had the best round amongst her teammates during the tournament with an eight-over-par 79 during the second round.
Rounding out Marshall’s team play was Korakot Simsiriwong with a final score of 246. Caitlyn Morrone concluded play with a 255 while her twin sister Kristyn Morrone wrapped up action with a 266.
Samford took home the team title by being 14 strokes better than second place Xavier with a five person team score of 913. They were led by Natalie Mitchell, who was the tournament’s individual champion with a seven-over-par 220.
The host Memphis Tigers was third with a team score of 932.
The next time Marshall will return to the course will be March 2-5 when it takes part in the Edwin Wattes/Kiawah Island Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.
