GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Thundering Herd women's golf team dropped two spots in the second and final round of the UAB Fall Beach Blast, finishing 12th in the event.
Marshall shot a 318 in the opening round and followed that up with a 324 on Tuesday.
Larie Lynch continued her strong play, following up her opening day round of 74 with a 78 on Tuesday. Her 36-hole total of 152 put her in a tie for 14th place.
Finishing in a tie for 30th was Maria Battaglia, who shot rounds of 77 and 81, respectively to finish with a 158.
Molly Ginger tied for 46th place, shooting a 163 while Rachel Halloran's 169 and Mary Oliver's 175 rounded out the Herd lineup.
Columbia, who led after day one, finished up the job, taking the team championship on Tuesday with a team total of 597. Columbia shot a 297 on day one, followed by a 300 on day two. Both of those scores marked the lowest team totals each day.
Samford grabbed second place after shooting a 603 while Jacksonville State took third with a 618.
Stevy Loy of Columbia was the individual champion. Loy, who shot a 75 on Monday, finished five strokes under par on Tuesday, shooting a 67. That marked the lowest round of the tournament and the only round under 70 by anyone in the tournament.
The tournament marked the final one of the fall season for the Herd. The team will be out of action until February 22, 2009 when it travels to the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate.
