HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's golf hits the road for the second weekend in a row to play in Murray, Ky. for the New Wave Communications Classic hosted by Murray State.

Along with the Thundering Herd, seven other teams will compete in the tournament including Murray State, Eastern Kentucky, Drury, Jackson State, Lipscomb, Southern Illinois, and Tennessee State.

The classic will be played on the Miller Memorial Course, which is a 6,017 yard, par-72 set-up. The schedule calls for 18 holes of stroke play on Sunday and Monday. All teams will start the first tee on Sunday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The schedule for Monday includes a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Traveling for the Herd will be senior Maria Battaglia (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands High School), junior Caitlyn Morrone (Pinehurst, N.C./Texarkana JC), sophomore Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Ashland High School), sophomore Allison Harper (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington High School), and freshman Korakot Simsiriwong (Thailand/Starkville Academy). Kristyn Morrone (Pinehurst, N.C./Texarkana JC) will be traveling as well and playing as individual.

Head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey commented on the weekend tournament, saying," We are getting off to a crazy start since we were supposed to leave on Thursday and play the practice round on Friday, but we didn't want to drive across Kentucky in the weather on Thursday. We should do well here and we are looking to redeem ourselves from the final round at Kiawah last weekend."
