Marshall to Compete at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's golf will tee off at the second-annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech, Tuesday, at the Highlands Course of Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.

The Thundering Herd completed action at the Kiawah Island Classic after the third round of play, March 4, improving from 30th place to finish 25th out of a 36-team field at Oak Point Course. Marshall its best day of the tournament, improving from its 36-over-par 324 output on Day 2 to a 31-over 319. Marshall finished tied for sixth in the second flight championship, 25th overall, improving from its 30th-place position on Day 1 and Day 2. Despite putting up her highest score of the tournament in the final round at 9-over 81, Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio) finished at the top of the Herd squad, tying for 79th overall with a 21-over 237 total.

The women will play 36 holes over two days, competing on the par-70 Highlands Course. Spanning 6,372 yards, the course features four par-5 and six par-3 holes.

Thirteen teams will make up the field for the women's side of the tournament, accounting for over 65 participants. Schools taking part in the event include Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Indiana State, Marshall, Murray State, two teams from Northern Kentucky, Presbyterian, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and West Georgia.

The Thundering Herd will take a trip to our nation's capital to compete at the Hoya Invitational, March 31 - April 1.
