Marshall to Tee Off at C-USA Championship, Monday
Thirteen Teams Vie for Title at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala., for the 19th-annual Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship, teeing off Monday at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club. The Thundering Herd will play in pairs with UTEP beginning at 9:20 a.m. ET off Hole No. 10.
The championship consists of 54 holes on a par 72, 6,145-yard course spanning three days, with the winning team receiving an automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals. This is the fourth-straight year that the tournament has been hosted at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Led by senior Rachel Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio), the Marshall women’s golf team finished fourth in a 12-team field at the EKU Colonel Classic at Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Ky., April 5, to complete its regular season. The Herd improved by 24 strokes from the first round, April 4, posting a 17-over-par 205 to total 58-over 634 for the tournament. Thompson placed fourth individually, tying with six other golfers at 11-over 155. She sunk the second-most birdies of the tournament with four, and tied for the best par-5 scoring at an even 5.00.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
The 13-team field includes three teams from Golfweek’s top 45, with defending champion No. 29 Tulane, No. 43 East Carolina, and No. 45 UTSA. Florida Atlantic, FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Old Dominion, Southern Miss, Tulsa, UAB and UTEP make up the rest of the field.
