Carling Dickey Leads Lady Herd Golf Squad After Day One of the MAC Championships

    CINCINNATI, Ohio - Marshall's Carling Dickey is tied for 10th place and Sheena Caron is tied for 15th place following the first round of action at the Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships at Walden Pond Golf Club.

    Dickey, a native of New Castle, Ind., fired a 76 (+4) in the first round and is six strokes back of current lead Katie Schmidt of Toledo who shot a two-under par 70 Friday. Caron, a native of Bolt, W.Va., is tied for 15th after shooting a 77 on the 5,812-yard course.

    Marshall, a first-year program, finished the day eighth out of nine squads with a cummulative team score of 328. Northern Illinois trails the Thundering Herd, 12 strokes back at 340.

    Kent State already has a nice cushion thanks to an impressive round of 292 that gives the Flashes a 15-stroke lead over second-place Bowling Green with two rounds to play.

    Saturday's second round is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 a.m.
