IRVING, Texas – Conference USA announced its 2012 women’s golf All-Conference teams on Monday and amongst the players honored was Marshall golfer, Kristyn Morrone.

Morrone was awarded the coveted Newcomer of the Year after being voted by the league’s head coaches.

The Texarkana Junior College transfer has been a steady performer for the Thundering Herd this season, playing in 16 rounds for the year and having a 72 shot round during the UNCW Seahawk Classic on March 24.

“I am really happy with the effort the Kristyn and her sister Caitlyn have put into this year and the way they have adjusted to playing at Marshall, commented head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey. “We are so thrilled that the Morrone sisters are here to stay at Marshall.”

The Pinehurst, N.C. native shot an 84.0 stroke average per round during the season and had her best finish in the EKU TriMatch on August 28, placing 20th individually.
