Women’s Golf Signee Earns Medalist Honors at Michigan Women’s Amateur

July 13, 2017

SAGINAW, Mich. – Marshall women’s golf signee Kerri Parks (Flushing, Mich.) earned medalist honors at the Michigan Women’s Amateur earlier this week.

“With our incoming golfers, that’s what we’re looking for,” head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. “We want to build on this, so we can be more competitive next season. I love what I’ve seen from Kerri and Stormy Randazzo this summer and it will be a lot of fun when they get on campus. Our schedule next season is going to be difficult, so we need to get better and our results have proven we are moving in the right direction.”

Parks earned medalist honors with a career-best 4-under-par 67 to earn stroke play qualifying medalist honors and the No. 1 seed for match play in the 101st Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship presented by Carl’s Golfland at Saginaw Country Club.

The Flushing, Mich., native shot a 76 on Monday and did not make a birdie. Parks played the back nine first on Tuesday and birdied three consecutive holes (Nos. 16, 17 and 18). Her highlight of the day was making an eagle on the par 5 No. 1 hole.
