HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women’s golf will begin its 2014-15 campaign by competing at Illinois State’s Redbird Invitational, Sunday and Monday, at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.

Live stats will be available through GolfStat and final results will be posted to HerdZone.com.

Marshall returns five 2013-14 letterwinners, losing one and adding freshman Leigha Holt (Holly Springs, N.C.) to its roster. Seniors Korakot Simsiriwong (Narathiwat, Thailand) and Sarah Helly (Enniscrone, Ireland) lead the squad with the second and third- best stroke averages from last season.

Tiffany Prats was named Marshall’s women’s golf coach in July of 2014. Prats came to the Herd after three seasons as Maryland's assistant coach. Prats helped lead the Terps to four team victories, an individual win and a spot in the 2012 NCAA Regionals. Prior to her stint at Maryland, Prats spent two seasons at San Diego State. During her time with the Aztecs, SDSU had three team tournament victories and two individual titles. The Aztecs made back-to-back NCAA regional appearances for the first time in school history in her two seasons there.

Prats added Brian Levi as assistant coach in August of 2014. Levi, son of PGA Tour and Champions Tour veteran Wayne Levi, is a former Florida Gulf Coast University golfer. After graduating in 2010, he played on multiple mini tours in Florida and in the Northeast for three years. He also competed on The Fusion Tour in East Florida and on the West Florida Professional Golf Tour.

The Redbird Invitational will include a field of 16 teams, including Ball State, Bowling Green State, Bradley, Butler, Central Michigan, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Loyola, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Ohio, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.

The Weibring Golf Club is 6,086 yards with par set at 72 for the invitational. The 54-hole tournament will have a shotgun start both days, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thirty-six holes will be played Sunday followed by 18 holes for Monday's final round.
