Forslund Named C-USA Women’s Golfer of the Week
Herd junior finished second at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational
IRVING, Texas – Marshall women’s golf junior Ylva Forslund was named the Conference USA Women’s Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Forslund finished tied for second at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational (Sept. 4-5), the best finish of her career. The junior shot a 76 and was tied for third after the first round and was just four strokes back off the lead. In the second round she improved by one shot and moved into a tie for second, only two strokes from the lead.
“Ylva (Forslund) has worked hard and stepped up as a junior this year,” Herd coach Brooke Burkhammer said. “Her game and attitude are going in the right direction and I’m extremely proud of her.”
Forslund’s previous career-best finish was sixth in 2016 at the NKU Classic.
The women’s golf team will compete next at the Starmount Fall Classic, Oct. 2-3, in Greensboro, N.C.
