Women's Golf Begins Season at The Dale McNamara Invitational|

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The 10th season for head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey begins Monday as she takes her team to Broken Arrow, Okla. for The Dale McNamara Invitational.
Marshall’s women’s golf team welcomes back a veteran squad with seven members of the 2011-12 squad returning. The top returners for Thundering Herd are Korakot Simsiriwong and Rachel Thompson, the second and third best stroke averages respectively a season ago.
One of four seniors, Samantha DiDomenico will compete in Oklahoma after finishing in the top five over the summer in the West Virginia Women's Amateur Championship. Kristyn Morrone, the Conference USA newcomer of the year a season ago is also back. Caitlyn Morrone will be the fifth member of the Herd to compete in the season-opening event.
The Dale McNamara Invitational is hosted by fellow C-USA member Tulsa at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow, Okla. Action is Monday and Tuesday with competition teeing off at 9 a.m. each day. There will be a practice round on Sunday.
36 holes will be played on Monday at the 6,282 yard, par-72 Golf Club of Oklahoma course. The final 18-hole round will be played on Tuesday.
The Herd faces a strong field in Oklahoma. Three of 15 teams MU will face finished in the top 25 at the end of last season. Arizona State was fourth in the final poll after finishing tied for sixth at the NCAA Championship. Another team in the field, the Florida Gators finished with a number nine ranking last season and was 12th at the NCAA Championship. Oklahoma State is the other ranked opponent from a season ago that Marshall will compete against.
