IRVING, Texas - Following her first individual win as a Marshall golfer, Korakot Simsiriwong has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week.

Simsiriwong won the Cardinal Classic in Yorktown, Ind. after making a putt for par during the first playoff hole to seal the victory.

"Korakot is a really talented individual and this is just a glimpse of what she is ikely to accomplish in golf," head women's golf coach Meredith Knight Rowsey said of her sophomore.

The Thailand native shot rounds of 72 and 79 on the weekend. Her first round of 72 (E) came in damp, gusty conditions, which included winds in excess of 20 mph at times.

Her even-par first round was the best round of the tournament. It was the only round of the whole tournament that was par or better.

The sophomore's performance helped the Herd finish fourth in a field of 12 teams.

This is Simsiriwong's first Golfer of the Week honor.

"It's always nice to have accomplishments recognized by people outside of our team and family," said coach Knight Rowsey.
