Women’s Soccer Inks Welsh Midfielder Emma White
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall head women’s soccer coach Chris Kane has signed center midfielder Emma White (Newport, Wales) to a National Letter of Intent. White is eligible to compete for the Thundering Herd in the fall of 2005.
White has been a Wales National Team member since she was 12 years old, and now competes on the Welsh U-19 Team, who just completed the second round of the European Championships, having qualified from the group stages against England, Romania, and Bulgaria. Her U-19 team barely missed the final eight of the European Championships, missing the cut by one point. She also plays for the Cardiff City Bluebirds Ladies Football Club.
White is the program's first international player, and is also the first Marshall women’s soccer signee that has played for her country’s national team.
"We are very excited to have someone of Emma's caliber joining our program,” said Kane. “Her international experience with Wales will be invaluable to us. We anticipate her making an immediate impact for us in the midfield this fall."
White is the eighth player signed in the 2005 spring signing period. Justine Clarke, Courtney Hoover, Jessica Jennings, Erin Johnson, Stephanie Kot, Ali Lizotte and Aimee Wiese have also signed to compete with the Thundering Herd this fall.
