Women's Soccer Falls to Toledo, 3-1
TOLEDO, Ohio – Marshall women’s soccer fell to Toledo on Friday night, 3-1 in Mid-American Conference action.
Toledo (4-1-1, 1-0-0 MAC) came out strong to start the game scoring three goals before the Herd could retaliate.
Junior Jen Short (Mentor, Ohio) scored the lone Herd goal in the 79th minute of the contest off a pass from freshman Kassie Hollman (Marietta, Ga.). Short's goal was her third this season, while Hollman's assist was the first in her collegiate career.
Marshall (2-4-2, 0-3-0 MAC) was outshot by the Rockets 10-5.
“We played really well tonight,” head coach Chris Kane said. “We had some good opportunities to score."
Kane said he was pleased with the team's improvement from last weekend.
"Unlike on Sunday against Northern Illinois, the score was not indicative of the play, it was the complete opposite," Kane said. "So many players played well and we were a lot more aggressive."
"We reached our goal of scoring more goals than we did all last season (13), but we want more results.”
This marks the fourth consecutive loss for the Herd.
Marshall will travel to Bowling Green on Sunday to take on the Falcons. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
