Herd Women’s Soccer to Lace Up Against Louisiana Tech in Home League Match
It will be Marshall’s lone match over the weekend
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – After defeating Southern Miss in a 4-3 overtime thriller, the Marshall women’s soccer team looks to continue its momentum when it hosts the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters on Friday, Sept. 29, at Hoops Family Field at 7 p.m.
SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS
LA Tech has totaled four points through three matches in the league standings, producing one win over UTSA and a recent draw against the three-time defending champion North Texas.
Junior Mylene Roy-Ouellet leads La. Tech with 17 points from eight goals and one assist, while Junior Courtney Tompkins and sophomore Carlotta Cartelli continue to split time in net for the Lady Techsters.
LA Tech is 5-1-1 away from home this season with the lone loss coming in its last road game at Rice.
LAST TIME AGAINST LOUISIANA TECH
Jayne Lawman scored a goal in the 96th minute in overtime to lift the Marshall women's soccer team to a win over Louisiana Tech, 2-1, Friday night at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex. The Herd improved to 3-5-3 and 1-2-1 in C-USA play, while Louisiana Tech fell to 9-3-0 and 1-2-0 in league play.
Marshall had many opportunities against Louisiana Tech, but it would have to wait until the 83rd minute to score a goal. After the Herd earned a free kick from outside of Louisiana Tech's penalty area, sophomore Shontelle Smith drilled the shot through the goalkeepers' hands and into the back of the net to tie the game 1-1 and put the game into overtime.
