HUNTINGTON, W.VA. - Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Kerns has been named Marshall's Athlete of the Week. For her weekend performance, Kerns was also recognized by Conference USA as Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Lindsey posted two shutouts in both games over the weekend against No.24 UCF and Southern Miss. While opposing the Knights, Kerns slammed the door on six shots, including diving stops with two minutes to play in regulation and within a minute to play of the final overtime period. Furthermore, her tactical defense forced several missed opportunities by Central Florida.
Kerns continued to showcase her prowess in the net by keeping the Golden Eagles from scoring on Sunday. The goalkeeper denied six Southern Miss shots, and held the opponents to a total of 12 shots. Her defensive blank against the Golden Eagles helped Marshall nab its first Conference USA victory Sunday.
