IRVING, Texas -- Marshall freshman forward Erin Simmons was named to the Conference USA All-Conference third team and the All-Freshman team on Tuesday.
The Gahanna, Ohio native, who made starts in 18 matches in 2012, shared the Thundering Herd’s goal-scoring lead with six goals in her first collegiate season. In the first match of her career, Simmons registered a goal and an assist to help Marshall earn a 3-1 victory over Ball State on opening day.
Simmons went on to tally two multiscoring games, convert all three penalty kicks of the season, and net three match-winning goals this season.
At the conclusion of the Herd’s 2012 campaign, Simmons was ranked tied for tenth in C-USA in goal-scoring and tied for fourth in the league in match-winning goals.
