Seltzer, Sackaris and Ross Tabbed for All-Conference Honors

HUTINGTON, W.Va. – Junior defender Ashley Seltzer and sophomore Jordan Sackaris were named to the Conference USA All-Conference second team, while freshman forward Rene Ross was named to the league’s All-Freshman team, the league announced Tuesday.

The honor is the first for Seltzer, while it is the second straight season Sackaris has earned all-league recognition.

Sackaris finished the season having led the Herd in points (11), goals (five), game-winning goals (two), shots (40) and shots on goal (24). Last season, the Smithtown, N.Y., native landed on the league’s third team and All-Freshman team. The sophomore had two multi-goal games this season, including vs. Southern Miss on Sept. 27 and at Middle Tennessee on Oct. 8.

Seltzer finished the season leading Marshall in minutes (1,583), while being one of the team leaders in points (seven), assists (three), goals (two), shots (26) and shots on goal (10). The Knoxville, Tenn., native played in 99.5 percent of the Herd’s total minutes this season, while also playing a part in its three shutouts.

Ross is coming off a debut campaign where she was one of the team leaders in points (five), goals (one), assists (three), shots (19) and shots on goal (seven). The freshman had the game-winning assist and took a career-high three shots for the Herd in the 1-0 victory over Gardner-Webb on Sept. 3. Ross also collected the game-winning assist at Middle Tennessee on Oct. 8.
