HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- For the second time in her career, Marshall senior Sarah Vinson has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Capital One Academic All-District II first team, announced the organization on Friday.
The Thundering Herd senior defender/ midfielder, who was named to the District II first team in 2010, was named to the same list in 2012 after maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average throughout her career as a member of the MU women’s soccer team.
With the first team nod, Vinson is automatically nominated for the Capital One Academic All-America® award which is set for release during the final week of November.
Vinson is listed among 11 student-athletes from District II, which includes institutions in the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia as well as the District of Columbia.
On the pitch, Vinson started all 19 matches in 2012, capping off a career in which she made starts in a record-setting 76 games. Vinson is the current Marshall record-holder for match starts (76) and matches played (76). During her career, the Amelia, Ohio native netted eight goals with three assists and helped Marshall post 23 shutouts through four seasons.
