Diamond Club Dinner
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – To help celebrate the 20th season of Marshall softball, fans will select an All-Anniversary team through online voting starting Monday, Jan. 14.
The 12 person team will be voted for online through HerdZone.com. Voting will last for five days until Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. ET.
Players will be voted per position. One catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, two utility/designated players and two pitchers will be selected. Those chosen will be announced at the Diamond Club Dinner, Friday, Jan. 25.
All players that are up for voting were selected by the softball staff after careful examination of softball records, statistics and accolades. Each person selected is a former student-athlete. Current members of the 2013 team were not eligible to be chosen. In total, 38 former players were selected.
The 2013 version of the Thundering Herd softball program began practice Monday, Jan. 14 in preparation for its season opener in Tampa, Fla. for the USF-Demarini Tournament against Michigan, Feb. 8 at 12:15 p.m.
The second annual Diamond Club Dinner will be held on-campus at the Marshall University Foundation Hall. This year’s guest speaker will be two-time United States Olympian and four-time All-American Natasha Watley.
The event will be held on campus at the Marshall University Foundation Hall. There will be a reception, cash bar and silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. The dinner and program will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available to individuals at $50 each. Groups of up to eight can choose to purchase a sponsored table at $750. The table includes eight dinner and drink tickets, table sponsor recognition and an advertisement.
The program will include a speech from Watley, introduction of the 2013 team, comments from the six seniors, unveiling of the All-Anniversary team, and other special moments.
