Tickets, Tables Still Available for Diamond Club Dinner

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Tickets and tables are still available for Marshall softball’s second annual Diamond Club Dinner on Friday, January 25 on-campus at the Marshall Foundation Hall.

Tickets are available to individuals at $50 each. Groups of up to eight can choose to purchase a sponsored table at $750. The table includes eight dinner and drink tickets, table sponsor recognition and an advertisement.

There will be a reception, cash bar and silent auction beginning at 6 p.m. The dinner and program will begin at 7 p.m.

Two-time Olympian and national champion at UCLA, Natasha Watley will serve as the keynote speaker. Her speech will be part of the evening’s festivities that will include an introduction of the 2013 team, comments from the six seniors, unveiling of the All-Anniversary team, and other special moments.

The All-Anniversary team was a fan vote competition to help celebrate the 20th season of Marshall softball.

Watley is a two-time Olympic medalist for the United States and was a four-time All-American and previous national champion at UCLA. The California native broke the stolen bases record during the 2004 Olympics while third on the team in batting average at .400. In the 2008 Olympics she hit .321 from the leadoff position while driving in six runs and smacking two home runs.

For the Bruins at UCLA, Watley led her team to three straight Women’s College World Series appearances and then won the title in 2003. Her awards she collected at UCLA included the Honda-Broderick Cup, which is awarded to the top collegiate female athlete and the 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year award.

Currently she is playing in professionally in Japan with Team Toyota, which, with her on the team, won the 2012 Japan Softball League championship. Watley also is a member of the USSSA Pride in the National Professional Fastpitch League (NPF).
