HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Follow Marshall softball's 4-1 opening weekend in the Kickin' Chicken Classic, junior Jazmine Valle has been named the Marshall student-athlete of the week.

During action this past weekend, Valle was instrumental in helping the Thundering Herd win its first four games of the season with a .412 batting average while hitting two home runs and driving in seven runs.

The California native did not strikeout at all during five games and was one of four players to hit a home run in Marshall's second game of the year against George Mason. In season opening tilt, Valle's home run in the fourth inning proved to be the game winner as her squad would not allow a run the rest of the contest, winning 4-1 over Georgia Southern.

Valle and her teammates are back in action this weekend as they head to Charleston, S.C. to take part in the College of Charleston Classic. The Herd will take part in five games with their first contest scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. against Charleston Southern.
