HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - After an offensive output in a sweep of Morehead State Wednesday, Marshall softball will tangle with Longwood for two games Sunday at Dot Hicks Field.

The doubleheader has been moved to Sunday with a noon start due to anticipated bad weather on Saturday. Little League Softball Day will still be held, which includes promotions throughout the game that are geared towards Little Leaguers in the stands.

The Thundering Herd (27-18, 11-7 C-USA) posted 17 runs over two games against the Eagles on Wednesday. Four players had three hits on the afternoon, led by senior Melissa Loesing who went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. She also had one of the nine steals on the day to bump Marshall's season total to 110, which continues to lead the conference.

Loesing's .351 batting average is one of six on the team that is .300 or better. Rebecca Gamby leads the team with a .358 average, which has risen thanks to 17 hits in the past 12 games of action.

Erika Bennett has pitched remarkable for the Herd recently. The senior has two wins and a save in her last three outings. She has not allowed a run during those performances and walked only three.

Fellow pitcher Andi Williamson continued to pace the Herd pitchers with win number 17 against Morehead State. The junior has 196 strikeouts and has the opportunity to become just the third Marshall pitcher to strikeout 200 opposing batters in a season.

Longwood (26-23), a Division I independent has played a quality schedule so far with teams out of the ACC, Big East, Big Ten, and SEC littering the docket. The Lancers have played a ranked team seven times, and even have a win over no. 25 DePaul. They have a quality offense led by Megan Baltzell, who has a team .350 batting average with 13 doubles, nine home runs, 30 RBI, and 12 steals, which all are team highs. The top Longwood pitcher is Ashley Cornell.  She tops the team with a 3.11 earned run average in 22 appearances to compile a 10-8 record.

This will mark the first time the Lancers and the Herd will meet on the softball field.

Sunday's games will have live stats from GameTracker and live video available through the Herd All-Access package. Both can be accessed from HerdZone.com. Scoring updates are available from the twitter accounts @Herd_Zone and @MUHerd_Softball.
