Marshall Softball to Hold Camps
Camps begin July 28

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall softball will be hosting an all skills camp in late July and a fall instructional program.
Directed by the Thundering Herd's all-time winningest softball coach, Shonda Stanton, along with assistant coaches Chanda Bell and Kendall Fearn, plus current and former Marshall softball players, campers will receive guided instruction and have the chance to improve their skill set.
All camps are held on-campus at Marshall's home for softball, Dot Hicks Field.
Interested athletes can print off the camp brochure from HerdZone.com and send in the registration form plus a $25 non-refundable deposit to the softball offices at P.O. Box 1360, Huntington, WV, 25715.
ALL SKILLS CAMP
When: July 28-29
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Description: July 28 instruction will focus on the defensive side of the game, including fundamentals and position play. July 29 instruction will focus on offense, including the Herd hitting way, baserunning and short game. If there is inclement weather, instruction focus may switch days. Lunch on campus and a one-hour swim (July 28 only) at the Marshall Rec Center are included.
Ages: Open to any and all entrants, grades 1-8
FALL INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
*Both Pitching and Hitting sessions offered*
When: September 9, 16, 23, 30; October 7, 14
Time: 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Description: Hitting sessions will focus on swing fundamentals and everyday drills to becoming a better hitter. Hitting routines and RVP film sessions to analyze and build a more explosive swing will be offered. Live hitting sessions may be coordinated with the pitching workouts. Pitching sessions will focus on developing the proper mechanics and gaining command of pitches. Everyday drills will focus on consistency in locating pitches and increasing velocity.
