HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The fall exhibition season will come to a close for Marshall softball on Sunday when it hosts Ohio for a doubleheader at Dot Hicks Field beginning at 1 p.m.
The two game tilt will be a part of the Thundering Herd's homecoming activities which will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with the annual Alumni Game. The game is open to the public.
Marshall is coming off a four win outing last weekend as it picked up victories over Ohio Valley, Charleston and West Virginia State.
Pitcher Andi Williamson was outstanding in both of her starts. On Saturday she took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against OVU before giving up a one out hit. She finished out the game and struck out nine.
The senior was able to complete the no-hitter on Sunday against WVSU when she struck out 10 batters. In her combined 14 innings last weekend, she did not walk a batter and allowed just four base runners.
Alysia Hively has been one of the Herd's most consistent bats this fall. The senior has five hits in 13 at-bats while driving in five runs. Fellow upperclassman Jazmine Valle leads all MU batters with six RBI.
Freshmen Shaelynn Braxton and Kaelynn Greene have been bright spots. Greene leads the team in stolen bases (4) and average at .500 with five hits, all via infield singles or bunts. Braxton has driven in five runs which includes a three-run walk-off homer against West Virginia State last Sunday.
Sunday's action is free to the public. Those unable to attend can follow live stats via GameTracker on HerdZone.com.
