Megan Geers enters her fourth season as an assistant coach for the Thundering Herd swimming and diving team. Geers joined the Herd coaching staff prior to the 2004-05 season, when she arrived from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
"Megan is a wonderful deck coach and has a good rapport with the student-athletes," Marshall head coach eonard Kraus said.
Geers' major responsibilities include recruiting, dry land workouts, team travel and assisting with all deck work. During her tenure, the Herd boasts a 21-19 record, four conference championships and three conference all-academic honors. The Herd has also broken 17 school records and had qualifiers at the NCAA Zones and NCAA Championships under Geers' watch.
She was the head coach for the Huntington Hills Swim Team in Columbus, Ohio, in 2004. Prior to that, she was an assistant coach for the Bloomington Swim Club in Bloomington, Ind., from 2000-03. She coached 20 state qualifiers and two state age-group champions, ranging in age from six to 18 years old. She also was an assistant coach for the Bloomington North High School swim team in Bloomington, Ind., from 2003-04.
She was a three-time All-Big 10 selection (2001-03), as well as a four-time Academic All-Big 10 selection (2000-03). She was a U.S. National Qualifier in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and was a 2004 Olympic Trials qualifier, as well as a former IU record holder.
Geers graduated from Indiana University in 2003 with a degree in elementary education with a concentration in social studies. In 2007, she earned her masters degree in sports administration from Marshall.
