Herd Wraps Up Final Day of Competition at C-USA Swimming/Diving Championships

HOUSTON, Tx.-Marshall's Lauren Rone finished sixth in platform diving with a score of 156.30 to lead the Herd on the final day of competition at the 2013 Swimming/Diving Championships at the University of Houston Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.

The Herd finished sixth in the overall team competition with 255 points.

"We had some fine performances tonight," said Marshall head coach Bill Tramel. "Our milers were great. Kaley Gregory broke our school record in the 1000 Free on the way in the 1650 Free. Lauren Rone finished strong in the Tower Diving with a sixth-place finish."

It was a productive weekend for the Herd diver, after placing fifth and sixth in the 1 and 3-meter competitions, respectively.

Sarah Kay netted 11 points by finishing eighth in the championship final of the 200 Fly with a mark of 2:02.23.

Danica Ross placed 16th with a time of 52.48 in the consolation final of the 100 Free, while Sarah Schimenti also registered a point by finishing 16th in the consolation final of the 200 Breast with a time of 2:26.48.

The Herd's final event of the championship was the 400 Free Relay, where Marshall took sixth in a time of 3:34.44 using the quartet of Lauren Hurd, Arlie Rykosky, Tiffany Aeling and Katie Kramer.

"I'm very proud of this team," Tramel said. "Their accomplishments are a result of their hard work. In all, we finished the meet with four school records. We had 29 performances that ranked in the top 10 all-time for our program's history. Eight of those were Top 3 all-time performances. This certainly will give us a fantastic foundation to build upon next year."
