HOUSTON - The Marshall swim team sits in thrid-place following day one of the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Houston.

Only two events have been completed thus far. The Herd took third-place in the 200-yard medley relay and fifth-place in the 800-yard free relay. Senior breaststroker Michaela Sceli posted a lifetime best 28.89 second split to lead Marshall in the 200 medley.

"We swam pretty well today," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "We really haven't been this fast in our relays in a couple of years. We had good exchanges and had a couple of people set new bests."

The Herd will resume action tomorrow morning with preliminary heats in the 500 and 50 free events and the 200 IM. Marshall's divers will also get into the action tomorrow during the three-meter dive. Finals for these events will be held Thursday night.

"I really can't complain about how we've done so far," Kraus said. "I just hope we can build on it tomorrow and have good morning sessions. I'm looking for us to do well in the 500 free and our IMs look good."
