HOUSTON - Michaela Sceli became the first Marshall swimmer to take home a Conference USA crown at the 2008 championships as the senior breaststroker took first-place in the 100-yard breaststroke in a school record time of 1:02.03.

The mark sets up a possible NCAA Championship appearance for the LaSalle, Ontario, Canada native, who has owned the school record in both the 100 and 200 breast for two seasons now.

"Mickey just swam so well tonight,"Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "This could very well put her in the NCAAs. We'll just have to wait on what some other people do."

Overall, Marshall remained in fifth-place after day three of the C-USA Championships

Jenny Johnnson had a solid day once again and led Marshall's Individual Medley group with an 8th-place finish in the 100 IM finals. Kayla set a lifetime best with a 57.25 in finals of the 100-yard butterfly.

"Overall it was a really nice day," Kraus said. "It was a productive evening and we were able to score some points. Hopefully, that will fire us up for tomorrow morning.".
