Herd Moves into Sixth at Tennessee Invitational
Lockyer posts top-10 finish in 400 IM
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Marshall Swimming & Diving moved into sixth place at the Tennessee Invitational after a strong Friday evening session.
The Herd began the night with a 12th place finish in the 200 medley relay. Jordyn O'Dell, Catherine Bendziewicz, Hannah Robins and Lauren Cowher posted the fourth-fastest time in school history at 1:43.54.
A trio of Marshall swimmers followed in the 400 IM. Emma Lockyer finished seventh overall (4:21.40). Maddie Schaffer improved her prelim time, finishing 20th (4:27.14) and Oda Gjerde was 24th (4:33.22).
A pair of Herd freestylers competed in the 200 free. Freshman Darby Coles shaved 0.13 seconds off her lifetime best from the morning to finish 23rd (1:52.34) and Angelica di Marzio was 24th (1:53.03).
Catherine Bendziewicz placed 15th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:04.02) and Jordyn O'Dell won the bonus final of the 100 backstroke, finishing 17th overall (55.86).
In the diving events, Maddie Young moved up one position from qualifying to finish 11th in three-meter Diving (214.45).
In the final event of the night, Marshall's 800 freestyle relay posted the seventh-fastest time in program. The relay team of Catherine Bendziewicz, Darby Coles, Angelica di Marzio and Anna Lynch finished 12th (7:29.98).
